NOVOMATIC inaugurated one of the largest photovoltaic systems in Lower Austria at its headquarters in Gumpoldskirchen, occupying nearly 20,000 m². This achievement, celebrated in the presence of the State Governor, enabled the international gaming technology group to supply a large part of its annual energy needs with clean, zero-emission power. With this important installation, NOVOMATIC reaffirmed its commitment to a sustainable and responsible future.
Gumpoldskirchen, October 28, 2024 - NOVOMATIC took a firm step towards sustainability by inaugurating its largest photovoltaic system to date. With more than 4,600 solar panels deployed on 20,000 m² at its headquarters in Lower Austria, the project was presented at an event attended by Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner, the NOVOMATIC Board of Directors and the Mayor of Gumpoldskirchen, Ferdinand Köck. This initiative represents a milestone in the use of clean energies, reaffirming the commitment of NOVOMATIC with responsible practices and a more sustainable future.
Equivalent in size to three soccer fields, the system will produce around two million kilowatt-hours per year, enabling the company to cover a considerable portion of its headquarters' energy needs. The green energy will supply the business offices and gaming equipment development centers and power the charging stations for the company's fleet of electric vehicles. The Group's subsidiaries in countries such as Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Poland, South Africa and Australia also cover a large part of their energy needs with dedicated photovoltaic systems.
The Governor of Lower Austria, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, emphasized: "Lower Austria is a pioneer in the development of wind and photovoltaic energy. Today, we generate half of the wind energy and a quarter of the solar energy of all of Austria, an achievement made possible by the commitment of many companies that are committed to a green and sustainable future by investing in renewable energies. We are grateful for this contribution and for the trust placed in Lower Austria as a key driver for our economy."
"Completing the Group's largest PV plant was not only a milestone in our sustainability strategy, but also a clear signal of our commitment to a strong and efficient energy future. Only by taking responsibility can long-term business success be ensured," emphasized the NOVOMATIC AG Board of Management.
The recent installation will enable NOVOMATIC to sustainably reduce its carbon footprint, achieving annual savings of more than 1,100 tons of CO2, equivalent to the absorption of 90,500 trees. The commitment to the "Going Green" approach is fully integrated into the company's ESG program, consolidating NOVOMATIC as a leader in gaming technology in Europe. In addition to expanding the use of photovoltaic energy throughout the Group, the company prioritizes the efficient management of resources and the promotion of electric mobility, with the aim of permanently reducing CO2 emissions in its global operations.
